The Louisiana Pathways Early Learning Center Career Development System is a statewide program designed to help early care and education employees receive recognition for the important work that they do. Participation is voluntary and there are no fees for enrolling. Enrolling in the system will provide a means of tracking the professional development of providers so that they can be recognized as professionals.

The goals of the Louisiana Pathways Early Learning Center Career Development System are:

raising the level of training for all practitioners so that children in Louisiana will have personnel who are prepared to work effectively with children
supporting early care and education staff in building a career rather than simply satisfying a licensing requirement
reducing turnover in the field which is a major issue in quality and costs to child care centers
recognizing and showing appreciation to caregivers who take their training seriously and are motivated to improve their practice with children
providing scholarships for professional development to assist providers with advanced training and education.
